Leaving Bombay was tough, I had a life there.
It's not easy to make new friends, but I made friends with the receptionist of my hostel, she's 'V' and her friend 'D'. They are reserved and have become my friends, we talk about culture, respect and movies and V's kids, she's 26 year old singaporean who's got 2 kids and looks 18!
The culture here is completely diverse and everyone is afraid of the law, the laws are stringent and being a small country it is easily controlled. Many South Indians and Malaysian muslims throng this country, although the majority is Chinese.
There's a place called Dhoby Ghaut here, which is really an up market area, and a Chinatown, where mostly Chinese people live as their temples are here, and Little India, a quaint place dominated by South Indians. Singapore is full of bustling food courts where you can find a meal that suits your budget. I've bought me a hot plate, so if I feel like it, I can cook sometimes. I've so far managed to make eggs, but I will graduate to better things eventually.
It's been a week and 2 days to be precise. And I think I can conclude Singapore to be a very expensive country.
Imagine getting to know a country and it's culture and at the same time coping with studies. Isn't it daunting. But it's alright, I've got miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep.
