One of the hidden wonders of Bombay. If you're a foodie.Which I hope you are. And when you are at loss at taming your tongue, when someone whispers fish curry, crabs, pomfret..and the like, then you're the person who needs to know this place.
Ok. For starters, what if you are made to sit on a table occupied only by you, a chair meant only for you..what I'm hinting at is, at Anant Ashram, you get to sit on an exclusive marble table, and feel like a gourmet king. Seriously.
And Secondly, what's even remarkable is, the line of people that awaits outside this homely abode situated cosily in Khotachiwadi, where businessmen, young students and family regulars frequent is immense. The place is serious about serving you strictly non - vegetarian food, so if you tag a few veggies along, and tell the head-waiter that you've got vegetarians too...he'll leave the room answering with an unabashed smile. :D
Oh and not everyone gets an entry, one of the main guys comes out, he asks the blue shirt, the green saree and the business suit guy to step in. Lol. yea, so it's like standing outside a New York disco, and waiting for the bouncer to let you in. Fantastic. haha
It's a very humble setting and the seriousness of eating a good fare, and a fantastically prepared food is surely a humbling and gratifying experience. They don't fuss, and so shouldn't you. It's a lovely place to satisfy your hunger, coz the place is really reasonable, nothing above 50 bucks, and a warm camraderie.
The food is obviously lip-smacking. Unforgettable fish curry and dal!!!! My veggie friends flipped over the dal, while we flipped over surmai and fish fry! No wonder these guys are such bullies, if you'd like me to put it in a mild way.
Visit Anant Ashram and discover non-vegetarian sea-food like never before.
Located at Girgaum. In Khotachiwadi. So next time you are lingering about the Central Plaza Area in Mumbai, do certainly visit this cosy abode.
